We live in a world of continuous, interconnected crises: AI, geo-economic tension, nature decline and ongoing conflict. We can’t wait for them to pass, and we can’t simply work around their growing impacts. This plenary, hosted by Morphosis at Building Bridges 2026, asked how we can harness them instead - often to deliver the opposite of what their creators intended - in service of inclusive prosperity.
Fire starters Marie-Laure Schaufelberger, Sarah Djari and Sandrine Dixson-Declève opened with short provocations. The room then tested their ideas in table discussions, on questions such as whether rising climate risk could turn nature into protective infrastructure worth financing, and whether the retreat of mainstream finance from climate-exposed regions could open the way to citizen-based investment and shared risk. Simon Zadek, Managing Partner of Morphosis, moderated.
